Akrapovic Slip-On Exhaust Kawasaki Ninja ZX14 R

The powerful speedster offers a great tuning platform for all levels of tuning. Our sporty and lightweight SLIP-ON systems offer a great balance between price and performance and represent the first step in the exhaust system tuning process. The muffler outer sleeve is made of titanium or carbon-fiber, which gives a special hi-tech touch to our SLIP-ON system. We offer open and a EC Type approval version.

The Akrapovic SLIP-ON system will deliver power and torque increase from a simple modification. Power output is smoother over the entire rpm range, with biggest increase in bottom and top of power curve. We measured a max. power increase of 5.3 HP at 6900 rpm and max. power output of 177.1 HP at 9400 rpm on the rear wheel. The torque is increased over the entire rpm range, which is exceptionally useful for more comfortable and smooth riding. With our SLIP-ON systems you will also save 6.55 kg in comparison with the stock mufflers.

Love the look and sound Didn't take 30 minutes to install my new slip ons. I mainly wanted them for the look and I wanted a little more sound but not much. I was hoping it didn't take away from the torque or make it blubberey since wasn't using a tuning system. I was pleased in every way. It has a slightly throatier sound at about 3000 rpms and actually has a little more torque there also even though it didn't need it. Have absolutely no regrets. Jerry December 10, 2012

Answer:

Akrapovic, along with most other exhaust manufacturers, designs their slip-on systems to not require remapping or utilization of a Power Commander. Full systems, however, significantly alter the way an engine exhales and, thus, usually require remapping. Power Commander has several download-able maps from their website including one that is designed for use with an Akrapovic Full System with either a stock or aftermarket air filter.
