Impeccable fit and finish, great sound and appearance If you want to skip the wall 'o text below- buy it! The OEM exhaust on my new Interceptor makes it sound more like a sewing machine than a V4 street bike. I chose the Akrapović can for several reasons- in several countries outside the USA such as the UK, this is an official Honda accessory for the VFR, so the fueling is OK with this unit. It's also EPA and CARB compliant, so no worries about that. I installed the can after my 600 mile service, and after a few more hundred miles to complete engine break in. I feel this game me a more realistic feel for any performance differences short of a dyno run. The appearance and sound of the can appeal to me. And, I got a great price and service from Revzilla, as usual. Installation was a snap, around 10 minutes. Later on, removing the DB reduction insert took another two minutes (I loosened and re tightened the spot-welded lock bolt before initial installation, using a stubby Allen wrench- an open end 8mm wrench works too). It's easier this way and I suggest doing it that way, if you plan to play with the baffle out. Originally, and for the first few hundred miles, I left the baffle in place, then removed it with no drama. After going back and forth a few times I'm running it without the baffle. The sound is wonderful, deep and V4 rumbly but not excessively loud or obnoxious. The bike did pick up some noticeable grunt in the higher gears - for example, 40-80 roll on in 5th is a bit more authoritative- and there seems to be little effect in low and midrange, but those ranges are where the sound really is sweetest. (Yes we have legal 80 roads in this state) Fueling seems to be spot on. Fuel economy is actually 1 mpg better over a 500 mile average according to the VFR dash, and the bike seems to be running a few degrees cooler (the V4 800 tended to cruise at 65 around 198-200 at 70 ambient, it has been around 194 with baffle out) The can allows use of the factory panniers with no issues. Ground clearance is uncompromised. This can checks off all the boxes for a quality OEM replacement and after about a thousand miles I am even happier with it than the day it arrived. 2014 Akrapovic Slip On Great looking pipe that has Akrapovic quality and finish. Sounds great at idle, but take the baffle out if you want all the V4 sound the VFR has to offer... the pipe is a bit quiet with the baffle in. 12 minutes to install and no remapping of the fuel injection necessary (unless you change the air filter.)
