Akrapovic Slip on Expectations for my Honda CBR1000RR and Installation Review
I just received my Akrapovic Slip on today. Prior to ordering I went over the online installation instructions, hard to find reviews for my exact Bike, Revzilla vids on installation of exaust systems and even emailed Akrapovic 3 times to ensure this is what I wanted, exactly what my options for my model as well finishes.
I want to mention to any newbies, myself included since this was the first time I had ordered an exaust for my 2014 CBR100RR that not only were the instructions perfect and very clear and concise, but the quality of the product is something to behold. I truly believe IMHO this is the Ferrari of exaust systems, none finer to be found. the Craftsmanship is simply astonishing, pictures just don't do this justice.
on with my review: Installation
if you follow the instructions, the process is simple, never doing this before it took me about 2 hours. I was very cautious every step of the way, even wore throw away gloves when handling the Titanium portion of the slip on. Note: use the 2 short retention springs that come with the kit, I don't really know what the longer spring is for, but simple put, I did not need it. also I found the torque specs for the installation process were very convenient and part of the install instructions. Akrapovic is the stardard for what you should expect and they delivered on every front. another note: as for the Servo Mechanism, the exaust pipe eliminates the " Flapper " inside the larger diameter hole in the stock exaust, and you will remove the cable from the servo mech. note where the resting position is for where the cable grove is so you can return the gear to it's resting position after removing the cable, since the new pipe eliminates the flapper, if you have this bike, you will know what I am talking about, but don't need to remove the cable from the stock exaust, just pull the stock pipe off the stock link pipe with the cable connected to muffler, that simple. interestingly, and something I could not find anywhere, was the fact that even when you turn the plastic wheel where the cable connects and is activated by the servo motor back to home after removing the cable, you don't need to be perfect, as I kept my servo area plastic cover removed till I knew I had everything right, and when you turn the ignition on, the servo motor actually turns the wheel to it's calibrated home position when at Idle # flapper closed #. the only function the flapper serves as I have researched, is to eliminate/reduce Idle and running db until you get to about 38-40 MPH, then the servo is programmed to pull the cable to open the flapper. Please also note as is explained in the great instructions, remove the bolt on the New Akrapovic Link pipe for the stock oxygen sensor, as you MUST put remove this from Stock to new Link Pipe, and I would suggest actually turning the sensor a few times counter clock wise to get the wires connected to the sensor where when you actuall screw in the Sensor to the new " provided by Akrapovic " link pipe, the wires are actually Straight and not twisted as would happed if you omit this part and just screw in the sensor.. it will make sense when you install this kit, just a heads up..
Starting the bike: once all was in place, I ensured no engine check light was illuminated, turned over the bike, and OMG, exactly, no , sounded better than I imagined. remember I said earlier every bike sounds different and there were very few samples of my exact bike to go by to know what it would sound like once installed, I will provide further reviews once I actually get it on the road, in my local cayon's and actually get on the throttle, however I can tell everyone reading this review that there is NO need to get a Power Commander w/ a slip on, now Full system, yes, but not w/ a slip on, period, and all Revzilla reviews state that exactly as I just said, but wanted to ensure all there is no need for the added expense, Could not hurt to have a PC, but not needed here, and it is much more work to install than the experience I had today with installation of my Akrapovic Slip on. I could not be happier with my purchase experience from Revzilla and hope this review helps you not only decide that this is the exaust slip on to have, but also a few install tips too.

For a 2013 cbr 1000rr does this come with a heat shield? Do you need a cpu flash?

BEST ANSWER: NO it does not. there is NO way to mount a heat shield to this slip on..as a matter of fact there is no Heat Shield made for this pipe for the CBR100RR up to the 2015 model year..
I HAVE A 2012 CBR 100RR: DOES THIS SLIP ON HAVE THE CABLE BOX TO HOOK UP TO THE STOCK EXHAUST CABLES? IN THE PDF THATS WHAT IT SHOWED FOR THE "STREET LEGAL" SLIP ON, IS THIS THE SAMESLIP ON AS IN THE PDF?
AND DO I NEED A POWER COMANDER TO RECTIFY THE ECU ISSUES(LEANER AIR/FUEL MIXTURE) AND DOES THIS SLIPON RETAIN THE LAMBADA (O/2 SENSOR) AS SHOWN IN THE PDF? ALL VERY IMPORTANT QUESTIONS, PLEASE ANSWER ALL OF THEM! I WORK ON ALL MY OWN STUFF AND WANT TO KNOW THE SPECIFFICS , IF ALL CKS. OUT I REALLY LIKE THIS EXHAUST!! BEST ANSWER: Looking at the PDF this installation is for the street legal slip on AND the slip on with exhaust valve so it will depend on which you buy

If you are only using the slip without the exhaust valve on it you do not need to do anything with the exhaust valve see page 4 first paragraph

If you are buying the slip on with exhaust valve the procedure to remove the cable and re-install it on the valve system on the link pipe preceding the slip on is on page 10

All fittings for the exhaust valve and lambda sensor are shown as installed on the slip on and link pipe

As for a power commander it would not be necessary for the slip on with or without exhaust valve, the on board computer will take care of that

If however you put on the header pipes then yes a power commander will be necessary or at least a remap the computer on a dyno to suit
