Akrapovic Slip-On Exhaust Honda CB 500 F / CB 500 X / CBR 500 R
The Akrapovic Slip-On line represents the first step in exhaust system tuning. It is simple to install and replaces a stock muffler. It is also the best compromise between price and performance. With this Slip-On system you will get more power, more torque and less weight, which all reflects in a smoother ride.
It’s not just about peak power—Akrapovic exhaust systems deliver increased performance throughout the entire rpm range. Increased power and torque result in a much smoother ride. All Akrapovic exhaust system measurements are made on their computer-controlled flowbenches.
Note: CARB compliant for use in California. Please check local laws before purchasing. Some modifications may be prohibited in some states.
Great exhaust thats a little pricey but worth the premium
This is a great exhaust. The sound is wonderful and deep compared to the stock exhaust on my 2013 Honda CB500X. I'm not one for the pipes that wake up the neighborhood and annoy folks, but wanted something more noticeable than the quiet one that came on the bike.
I can't vouch for any noticeable horsepower increase that other users have claimed. It seemed about the same as it always has after installation, but I'm a 32 year old rider that accelerates comfortably and maxes out at about 70 on the highway.
Installation was easy. I'm a new rider who had never done any work on a bike, and was able to get this installed following the included instructions in about an hour.
The baffling has a spot welded screw that is easiest to remove with a dremel tool if you're interested in that. I removed mine because with it in, it's only slightly louder than the stock (but still produced a deeper sound).
It's a little pricier than the other brands, but doing research online, Akrapovic seemed to be very highly regarded and worth the premium price.

I was a little hesitant to put a muffler on the CB500 as I was concerned the parallel twin would sound ratty. This pipe sounds awesome. Totally changed the bike. Install was perfect - I think it was on and warming up in about 10 mins. The fit & finish were excellent.
I removed the db killer - since this retains the factory cat the bike is not terribly loud with the insert removed. It is a little boomy when you are downshifting in town, but above 40 mph you don't hear the drone.
All in all I have been extremely impressed with the muffler and with Revzilla (awesome delivery & cust service).

Excellent throaty slip on exhaust!
The first exhaust I ordered here was the Yoshimura slip on but unfortunately it arrived with a crack on the pipe. I excitedly opened up the box and took everything out and had to repackage everything up. Excellent customer service with a full return on the exhaust and ordered this Akrapovic slip on which arrived extremely fast to my house! I am much happier with this exhaust in both looks and quality. It feels lighter than the Yoshimura and louder. Install was more time consuming because I had to install the spring and add anti seize compound on the Akrapovic. I read the install guide to make sure I was doing everything correctly where the Yoshimura was straight bolt on nothing to add or attach. Yoshimura the spring was pre installed and arrived without any compound was plug and play. I drove around for 6 miles without the baffle and I don't plan on putting it back on. My bike sounds so much better without being too loud (even though i would prefer a louder exhaust) once you reach 5th or 6th gear going 50mph it was quiet and just a bit louder than stock. I recommend this slip on!

packaged very well. box was damaged but exhaust well protected. took me about 30 mins. to remove stock muffler & install new one. super easy! I ride a Honda 500r & wanted a little bit louder exhaust note. got it but just barely. maybe 5 dbs at the most. exhaust looks great & matches my carbon fiber ft. fender! wish it was a little louder though.

A shopper asked:Does the slip on have a removable baffle or silencer?Oct 20, 2013
Craig B:Yes it does, It slips in to the tail pipe end and is fastened by a small machine bolt, which can be removed. When removed the muffler is throaty and much louder. I leave mine in but it depends upon your taste. Even in, you will hear a low and impressive throaty growl. I love this muffler. It's #1 on my list as it doesn't need to be re-packed for 10K miles, was made for my bike so a power commander isn't needed, and sounds great. If not this muffler than my only, only other choice barring cost is a Leo Vance.
Easy to install and quality made. It's the Rolex of slip-on's. Igor didn't misrepresent his product.Oct 22, 2013
Doug G:The center stand pipe just has an additional small bracket on it to prevent the center stand from hitting the chain. If you don't have a center stand, it doesn't matter which you get, either one will fit. (I have the center stand pipe on a CB500FA, you can't tell the difference.)Dec 10, 2014
Joshua L:The fit on my 500 was great. It's a great is purchase. They all are made to fit the bikes with center stand now. I asked the same question when I purchased mine. The extra part that was added for the stand is hidden from view so it was never a problem for me. Dec 10, 2014
Eric F:The fitment question regarding with or without center stand will determine whether or not your exhaust will come with an additional piece welded on it that will provide a resting point for your center stand bump stop. If you have a center stand and do not order the correct exhaust (with center stand), the center stand will not rest properly and ride up on to your chain.Jun 27, 2014
Eric F:The option refers to whether or not the slip-on exhaust will have an additional piece welded to it for your OEM center stand to rest on. Without that piece, your center stand will rest on your chain! So, if you have a Honda OEM center stand, select the option "with center stand" and your exhaust will have the correct fitment.Jun 27, 2014
Shane G:Mostly a slip on exhaust alone will mainly change the sound signature of the motorcycle. From what I have seen and researched most systems net you between a 1-2HP increase and changing out the air filter with new fuel controller can net another 2-3HP increase. As long as your coppers don't do random dyno stops you should be just fine. :)Jun 21, 2015
