The Akrapovic SLIP-ON OPEN exhaust system for the new Ducati 848 is an invincible combination of performance and price. In addition to performance, the twin titanium or carbon fiber mufflers add a clean racing look. And the Ducati will put out a much more powerful racing sound. You will also save 2.7 kg compared to the stock Ducati exhaust system. The SLIP-ON system is homologated and ready for road use.

Performance

Power and Torque: the Akrapovic SLIP-ON OPEN system greatly increases the potential of the twin cylinder engine. 

  • Ducati 848: Measured 126.5 hp at 10500 rpm, while the max. increased power of 5 hp was measured at 4900 rpm.
  • Ducati 1098 / 1098S: Measured an incredible 151.6 hp at 9810 rpm, while the max. increased power of 6.1 hp was measured at 4800 rpm.
  • Ducati 1098R: Measured 168.7 HP at 9930 rpm, while the max. increased power of 2.3 hp was measured at 10000 rpm.
  • Ducati 1198: Measured 161.2 HP at 9750 rpm, while the max. increased power of 6.4 hp was measured at 4900 rpm. 

Features

  • Oval or round-shaped canister (based on the structure of the tempered connection at the end of the header) with your choice of carbon fiber or titanium outer sleeve.
  • Hexagonal mufflers feature a carbon fiber outlet cap to much the design of the each bike.
  • Outlet cap, perforated inner sleeve and inlet cap are all made of titanium.
  • To obtain minimum size and weight with unmatched durability, the front rosettes are manufactured on a CNC machine from a solid block of spacial aluminum alloy.
  • Include a lightweight, compact and light-temperature-resistant carbon fiber muffler clamp.
  • Titanium bolts, with a spacial temperature-resistant sealant that prevent unseating, take the place of standard bolts.

Notes

  • Some products may not be legal for sale or use on pollution controlled vehicle, check your local laws and the manufactures' information.
  • It is recommended that new exhaust gaskets and a proper jet kit be installed when changing an exhaust system on a carbureted motorcycle. It is recommended that new exhaust gaskets and a Power Commander he installed when changing an exhaust system on - fuel-in jetted motorcycle. See the Engine section far exhaust gaskets and the Fuel Systems section for jet kits and Power Commanders.
  • There is no warranty on exhaust pipes and mufflers with regard to only discoloration. Discoloration (blueing.) is caused by tuning characteristics, i.e. cam timing, carburetor jetting, etc., and is not caused by defective manufacturing. See the Lubes section for products that will help prevent or remove blueing, or remove blueing.

James S: Man do I love my Carbon AKRAPOVIC slip ons with the noise reducers removed. My 848 EVO sounds INSANE. I am all about the snap, crackle, pop on deceleration and these do not disappoint. They look GREAT too. I honestly may have chosen Termignoni if they were not more expensive but they were and I didn't. I could not be more happy with my AKRAPOVIC slip ons. Not only that, shortly after I received my BEAUTIFUL carbon AKRAPOVIC, I read that DUCATI is switching FROM Termignoni TO AKRAPOVIC. Apr 14, 2014

James S: I paid REVZILLA somewhere around $1200 for carbon AKRAPOVIC slip ons. I personally thought that my 848 EVO was too quiet. Further, I thought that the AKRAPOVIC exhaust looked much better than stock. I installed the AKRAPOVIC's and really did like the improved looks, but was a little disappointed in the sound. It sounded VERY similar to stock. That was until I removed the noise reducers. (It is two bolts and takes about two minutes to remove them.) With the noise reducers removed the AKRAPOVIC slip ons are ABSOLUTELY PRICELESS. They look better and sound ABSOLUTELY INSANE! The snap, crackle, pop on deceleration is AWESOME! Hope this helps. I know for sure...

I installed Akrapovic sip-ons on my 2010 1198S.
It is not necessary to reflash the ECU after installing the slip ons. My Ducati runs better than ever now and sounds really good (without the DB killers installed). Later you may choose to have a reflash done, but for now consider installing a Ducati Preformance air filter or a K&N filter (NOT the race spec filter; that WOULD require fuel management modifications).
I don't think you will be disapointed with the sound, look or performance of the Akrapovic's
