Akrapovic Megaphone Slip-On Exhaust Kawasaki Z 1000 / Ninja 1000

The dynamic, bold looking roadster offers a great tuning platform for motorcyclists who desire something special. Our sporty and lightweight SLIP-ON megaphone systems offer a great balance between price and performance and represent the first step in the exhaust system tuning process. The mufflers are made of titanium, which gives a special MotoGP touch to our SLIP-ON system. The system is not EC Type approval.

Optional Akrapovic Exhaust Headers available "sold separately".

Note: Please check local laws before purchasing. Some modifications may be prohibited in some states.

Note: CARB compliant for use in California

It is compatible with with the 2014 OEM cases! I did a lot of research before buying this from Revzilla, asking people on the forum if it cleared the bags, or if they had any problems with it. I don't know about the ones for the 2013 models, but for the 2014 models without the servo, it performed as advertised. IT CLEARS THE OEM CASES. I installed this yesterday and it only took me 20 minutes, It was very easy to install. It is much better if you had a torque wrench that can handle 26 lbs ft as the gasket needs to be compressed just about enough. Wipe with WD40 before you start it up. On my bike, I didn't have to adjust the idle, it idle and started as if the oem pipes were installed. I went on an hour ride to check if it's backfiring, luckily for me, it didn't but I can tell that a dyno tune would benefit from it as it seems like the power band has shifted. The weight savings on this pipe is astronomical compared to the oem pipes. I chose to keep the silencer on, without the silencer, it's a bit too loud. It's mellow from 2-4k range, once you open it up, it will scream. Sounds very raw, that's the way I like it compared to others that sounds like the exhaust is hitting a pillow or a blanket of fibers. A great upgrade! Great product, great weight saving, very easy to install and you notice the difference immediately. I really like the sound and unfortunately the You Tube videos I found on line do not do it justice. Even allows a little more clearance for your feet over the stock pipes. Very happy with purchase. RevZilla Store asked: Why did you choose this?
Kevin W: Great product and ability to eventually purchase full system when back in stock and funds allow! May 18, 2014
A shopper asked: Regarding fitment, it is noted that these are not compatable with side cases. When I look at the picture it is not self evident why this is the case. From the look of the unit and it's mounting bracket they do not appear to be high enough or long enough to run into the factory side cases. So, my question is how do these units differ in terms of their mounted height and how far they run to the bike's rear with the stock units?
Thanks, Greg H

Paolo L: It fits! Our 2014 oem saddle bags have a heat shield on it. There are pictures on the internet with this pipe with the saddle bag/cases. Apr 23, 2015

Chin Yung L: if you just putting on slip on, you dont need any fuel managent stuff. But I would get the servo-buddy servo eliminator to get rid off the exhaust servo all together. Mar 30, 2015

A shopper asked: Do these sound louder than the stock ones? I read on several forums that with db killers on, the sound difference is minimal. Without them they are pretty loud.

Also, I am confused between the slip on and the megaphone, How to decide? Ofcourse the other ones are 2 times the price :(

Kevin W: With the dB killers the sound difference IS minimal but with them out it is a very nice sound without being too much. This, however is only my opinion and I guess it's down to individual taste. These do not give a deep note like the other slip ons but it suits me and as you say the price is good. The weight saving is huge, these things almost weigh less than the box they are shipped in! Sep 11, 2014
