Akrapovic Exhaust System Yamaha FZ09 /  FJ09

Akrapovic is proud to introduce a stunning Racing Line exhaust for the Yamaha FZ-09. The FZ-09 is a bike with a strong focus on riding emotion and represents a new direction in sport-bike evolution. A bike designed to give homage to the darker and unconventional side of Japanese society can now be made even more mean, moody and exciting with the addition of Akrapovic's offering.

The Akrapovic Racing Titanium system is constructed from quality stainless steel with a titanium alloy outer sleeve on the muffler body. A  ‘slash-cut’ outlet section has been designed to retain the narrow lines of the FZ-09 and has a removable baffle plate, which features three stylish exit ports. Peak power gain of 5.4HP at 9900 rpm and peak torque of 3.9lb-ft at 5000 rpm. Increased power-to-weight ratio with weight reduction of 5.3 lb compared to stock exhaust.

The Akrapovic Racing Carbon Fiber system, with its striking Carbon fiber outer-sleeve and stainless steel headers, suits the naked design of the Yamaha bike and this exhaust will certainly bring the best out of the high-torque 3-cylinder engine that beats inside the heart of the Yamaha. Producing an extra 4.7lb-ft of torque at 5,150 rpms and increased power output of 6.8HP, the Racing Line (Carbon) will produce powerful and thrilling performance in everyday conditions, as well as help to improve the overall experience of the machine thanks to a weight saving 8.4lb from the original system!

To add to the extra performance and weight-saving improvements, the Racing Line also has the unmistakable Akrapovic sound to add to the desirability of both the exhaust and the machine.

It’s not just about peak power, Akrapovic exhaust systems deliver increased performance throughout the entire rpm range. Increased power and torque result in a much smoother ride.

Note: Please check local laws before purchasing. Some modifications may be prohibited in some states. Titanium - Racing option is EC approved.

Sounds amazing! (carbon) This was easy to install. It looks great and sounds awesome! March 2, 2015
Great throaty sound! Easy install. Chose the Akra Ti over the Yoshi even though I have loved the Yoshi on my sport bikes. Was not looking for more performance (this thing is already a beast) just a deeper throatier sound and a similar look to the stock can. Liked the fact that no fuel mapping was required. I purchased the Cat insert also but decided to try install without it first. Runs perfectly with no decel pops. I left the DB killer in as did not want super loud. What I got was a deeper growl, with a livable DB level and a great unique look! Super happy with this product and Revzilla's service! March 1, 2015
Sweet noise.. Noticeable power increase. Great sound. Super easy install. Worth every dollar... I have yet to install a power commander. It seems the idle quality is slightly rougher. And I received my order within 48 hours. January 29, 2015
Love it! This exhaust is awesome! Easily installed, fit perfectly with no issues. Love the look and sound, especially without the DB killer! January 26, 2015
great sound, easy install, good looking system I ordered the carbon system for my FZ-09 and I was impressed by how easy it was to install; no prying, wedging, forcing anything, it just fit! I ran it without the silencer at first and it was loud and needed a tuner, but now with the silencer, it runs real strong and sounds wonderful! December 22, 2014
Overall Amazing In Every Way I Put this exhaust on my bike and absolutely fell in love with it. Just unpacking the exhaust from the box was a relief because of the care that goes into shipping it. The carbon fiber looks beautiful and the metal is very well cleaned as well as welds all looking superb. Installing it was a dream, the instructions are by far the easiest I have seen, sliding it all together was no task and it fits PERFECT. Sound is pristine with a great bass tone, rumble and complimenting the triple cylinder well. The back fire is also pretty sexy too. This was installed on my Blazing Orange FZ-09 and took about an hour to install. December 16, 2014
Akro Carbon - My poor Neighbors! Ordered on Monday, received Wednesday. Quick install, fitment is superb. Looks great on the 2014 Liquid Graphite FZ-09. Haven't put many miles on it yet due to lousy weather in the Great Northwest, but the miles I have put on left me with a grin from ear to ear. As another reviewer said, the sound samples and videos do it no justice! The best $700 I've ever spent! If you are on the fence about this exhaust, get off and get ordering! November 24, 2014
Great exhaust system for the price Got the carbon fiber one. Very detailed install instructions. Make sure you have a torque wrench on hand as you have to loosen the swingarm pivot to install the pipe mounting bracket. Gave it 3 stars for finish as the header pipes still had writing on them from whoever supplies Akrapovic with their steel. For ~$800 the customer should not have to scrub pipes before an install. Steven S: I did not want a system requiring fuel mapping. According to Akrapocic, this unit for my FZ09 does not require re-mapping. We shall see! I wanted more aggressive sound, not better performance. The FZ09 does not need any help with performance.

A shopper asked: Since the Akrapovic titanium has a catalytic converter does fuel system need to be remapped ? May 31, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
zach h: The catalytic convertor is an add on to the titanium exhaust. With or without the CC you DO NOT need to do a remap or even need a power commander. The akropovic exhaust was made to work perfectly with stock map. May 31, 2014
Reply to zach Good answer? Yes (1) No (0)
Alfred C: The catalytic converter is a$100 option. I purchased and installed a Dyna jet V.when the pipe was installed. The end cap has a tack weld in it too so you have to release that before you can run the pipe without the tri cap. I left it in place. I'm looking for a better air filter too but none are available as of today. Jun 2, 2014
Reply to Alfred Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
Jonathan F: It does NOT ship with a catalytic converter. It is sold separately.

General advice: any time you alter the amount of air going in to or out of an engine, fueling should be addressed accordingly.

A shopper asked: Will the Titanium exhaust ever need repacking? Feb 10, 2015
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Steven S: According to the instructions from Akrapovic, yes it will need to be repacked. However, I am not the least concerned about it. The system may gradually get a little louder with use but with the baffle plate installed, it is not excessively loud. Another thing, you can download and read the instructions that cover the install (very easy, by the way) right on the Revzilla site. That's one reason I bought the system from them. The instructions also cover the repacking. I'm very pleased with every aspect of this system. Hope this helps. Feb 10, 2015
Reply to Steven Good answer? Yes (0) No (0)
joe s: All silencers will need to be re-packed. Exhaust pressure and moisture will eventually degrade the material and the silencer will need to be serviced. Cover the exhaust tip when washing your bike and it should last 25k or more. Feb 10, 2015

A shopper asked: Are the horsepower and torque figures for the titanium system with the cat and baffle in place? Dec 10, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
joe s: Manufacturers want to show the highest output numbers with their products. Therefore I'm sure it was tested with maximum flow, no cat and no baffle. This exhaust does not come with the cat, but is available separately. Dec 10, 2014

A shopper asked: Why are the Dyno charts different? And specifically, why does the Titanium dyno chart have a big drop off @ ~3krpm compared to the Carbon chart which doesn't? Jul 14, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Kirk B: The Ti and Carbon exhausts from Akra are completely different designs, it is not just about the materials used. The Ti version is the closest to stock and has a larger and more muffled can. It is approved for street use in the EU and does not require fueling adjustments. On the other hand, the carbon one is deemed the "race" system and is tuned entirely for performance rather than being street legal.

If you want understated looks and slightly louder sound - go with the Ti version.

If you want added performance and wicked sound - go with the Carbon version.

Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
MIGUEL C: You will have to remove the center stand. I also recomend the titanium system. The sound is simply awesome it does not compare to anything out there. If you will like to be seen and heard save some more an get the titanium Feb 24, 2015
