AGV Sport Solare Jacket 4.2 5 77 77
My favorite summer jacket I live in Southern California and this was my favorite jacket for riding in the heat all this summer without the liner. It breathes really well, much better than my Alpinestars T-GP + Air. I'm 5'-10" and weigh 195. I wear a 44 regular sport coat and the Solare in XL fits me perfectly. (I also wear a size US 44, EU 54 AGV Sport Dragon, if that helps anyone for sizing. The Dragon is actually my favorite riding jacket but it's too bloody hot to wear in the summer where I live.) I upgraded the backpad to a Forcefield 001 Backpad Insert Pro $79 which offers CE-2 protection. It made the jacket a bit more snug but it's still very comfortable. I was surprised how well the air still moved through the jacket even with the upgraded backpad. I'm comfortable riding in this jacket between 70-90 degrees without the liner. In terms of durability, it is mostly mesh so I don't know how it would hold up in a crash, but hey it's gotta be better than squiding in a t-shirt and it has held up very well for me so far with regular use. No problems at all with the zippers, and the cuffs on the sleeves fit comfortably under my gloves. In terms of riding style, I ride a 2015 Ninja 1000 ABS. I'm not a hero kneedragger by any means but do hang off and mostly ride in the canyons for fun a couple times a week. Ride safe October 4, 2015
A Lot to Like Great summer time jacket w/o liner. If you're moving, I was comfortable in 85-90 degree temps. Overall weight was heavier than I would think it would be. With liner I suppose it could be a 45 + jacket. We don't get much lower in Cent. Fl. and haven't tried it yet in cooler weather. Flows a lot of air. Order one or two sizes larger than chart. Arm and elbow armor are fine, but I replaced the back with Forcefield BackPad. Main zipper was troublesome at the beginning but I got used to it. HI-Vis yellow lets others know I'm on the road! August 24, 2015
Awesome product Jacket fits very good my only complaint is the top button being to high it almost fills wrong when looking down. August 24, 2015
Great jacket for a great price I ride a klr650 probably 70 percent street 30 percent dirt. The ventilation on this jacket is still cool when crawling technical sections of the trails on a hot day but still feels incredibly sturdy. The armor in the arms and shoulder is a softer more flexible material so its comfortable but Ive found it to be protective. I appreciate the back foam just for the fact is puts more material between my skin and the dirt/pavement. I really love this jacket all around. I appreciate both its aesthetics and its functionality. If you need a jacket to throw on to take a ride this one is awesome. August 20, 2015
Well made and well worth it. AGV Sport Solare Jacket is well made and true to as advertised. I am 5'9" and 168 lbs. with relatively muscular build. It is tight throughout especially in the forearms and wrist closures. Airflow is excellent. Style is good. Protection seems adequate. August 17, 2015
Not too shabby It's a good jacket for the price that's for sure, I like the padding it doesn't get in the way and the removable plastic liner is nice cuz when it's colder it keeps you comfortable but when it gets hot you just pull that sucker out and you're good to go!! June 15, 2015
Good Jacket a little bit bigger than standard size He air flow and material is very good, but the protections are not fitting the exactly position. It appears to be a little bit bigger specially the shoulders and arms with you compare to standard size. Besides that, it is a very good jacket for daily rides. June 8, 2015

Steven K: I wanted a comfortable, vented jacket for hot day riding. I removed the waterproof lining and it works great. I will put the liner back in for the fall and cooler weather. I also like that the jacket holds a Forcefield 001 replacement back armor pad. I bought two of these jackets so one can air out while I ride the other. Jun 20, 2014

Dustin Z asked: I really like this jacket for its combination of style, protection and breath-ability, but I really wanted to get a jacket with a breathable waterproof liner. In the description it says it comes with a breathable waterproof liner, but I cannot find any information on it. I went to the AGV site and it did not mention this. Is this a misprint? Apr 24, 2014

Rex C: Dustin,
Needing a mesh jacket for really hot SC summer riding, I ordered this one about two years ago. It was out of stock, so I ordered another, much more costly jacket. Not enough air flow, so I reordered the AGV. Lots of air flow. Have never used the waterproof liner, but it's polyurethane and feels rubbery. Not likely going to breath. No vents. Have many jackets, at this point, and still come back to this one for hot rides.

You might consider a two-piece rain suit for actually riding in the rain. It will go over whatever protective gear you are wearing. I've stayed dry in downpours so bad that cars stopped under bridges. Those suits are generally inexpensive and will roll up into a small package to carry along.

Jennifer S: It is a mess liner. It just keeps it from sticking o thewearer if they swat. Your description makes it sound like a true liner; its not. Apr 25, 2014

Christopher C: There is a very-thin water proof liner that zips into the interior of the jacket. It appears to be water proof (with reinforced waterproofing at each liner seam/stitching), but I have not ridden this jacket in a downpour so I cannot attest to it's usefulness in the wild. Also, due to the level of waterproofing I can see, I have doubts as to it's breatheability--but in summer months, I just leave the waterproof liner out of the jacket=maximum breatheability. Anthony K: I live in Tucson, AZ and it gets pretty hot here. I ride almost everyday and this is the only jacket I wear, it breaths well but I still sweat on really hot days. I don't ride in the rain so I have no answer if it will protect during rainy rides. I hope this will help. Apr 25, 2014

Eric V: This has been a great jacket and represents great value, given the price point. However, I would not call the liner breathable. It is removable when the weather gets warmer. May 4, 2014

A shopper asked: Is the zipper pull on the left side? (I have heard it is) if so, is there a particular reason for that? Sep 27, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Shawn B: It is in fact on the left side. I don't know why, perhaps it's a European design characteristic? The zipper can be a little difficult to get lined up, it has a tendency to 'unzip' while you're zipping it up.

Other than that, it really is a great jacket. I live in southwest Florida and ride in some extremely hot & humid weather, staying cool has never been an issue (as long as you're moving).

I would definitely recommend this jacket. I bought the Hi-Viz yellow, some fading after a year or so of extreme sun, but still quite bright!

A shopper asked: I am just wondering how boxy this jacket is to get an idea of the fit. Jul 10, 2012

Winterveil: I'd say the mid-section is a bit bigger than the chest; I'm a pretty slender dude so I picked up a small, but it still feels kind of boxy around the core. Take a closer look at the guy modeling the jacket - it makes him look kinda chunky around the mid-section, but compare the cut to other jackets he's modeled in and you'll see that this one is just a bit oddly cut, or maybe made with "bigger-boned" folks in mind. Jonathan F: it's about the same size, somewhat smaller. i have a narrow waist and wide shoulders, and it fits well when the cinch straps are tightened down. also, when they are tightened it doesn't bunch up like 20 year old pleated khakis. Aug 25, 2012

WILHELM P: I am 5'9 and around 180. Bought a Large but it is on the small side of Large. I use it as my summer jacket as I can only fit a t-shirt under it.
I would think Medium would be your right size.

Thomas W: I'm 6'1 165lbs. Don't think I can offer any advice. Good luck. I will say it is a rather cheap jacket and will only survive 1 season of heavy use. Liner is cheap. If you use it a few times every summer then it will probably work. I prefer revit and dainese. Mar 16, 2015

A shopper asked: I am interested in the agv sport solare jacket. The problem is to choose the correct size in relation to the men's textile size agv chart.
I measure 41inch chest and 30 inch sleeve which not correspond to any size available.
What can I do ? Can you help me ?

Gracias. (is there anybody who speaks spanish?)

Chris K: That sounds like a tough measurement to fit. If you could provide your height and weight, that will contribute towards a size recommendation. We don't have a fluent Spanish speaker on staff, but if you write us an e-mail, we can usually figure it out! RevZilla Motorsports - cs@revzilla.com May 3, 2011

Dougbr2: I'm 5'11" with a 43" chest and weigh 195 with a 33" sleeve. I bought the extra large and it fits snugly, so you could probably get by with a medium. If it is too tight, Revzilla will take back the one and send you a large. Don't cut off the tags before trying it on! Aug 22, 2011

Allen: Hi,
the AGV site has size recommendations. I am a 40" chest so went by their recommendation and ordered a medium. It is way small in the chest and arm length, so I replaced it with a large. Fits more the way I would expect.

A shopper asked: Hello, I am 6' even and weigh 155 with a 42" chest measurement. I was curious to know what size to get? I have really long arms and also skinny. So some advice would be greatly appreciated! Apr 26, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Larry K: I'm 6' 1" and have long arms for my height as well, but I'm a bit heavier than you. I have a 2XL in the Solare and a 2XL in a Tempest (discontinued by AGV Sport unfortunately). They both fit like any jacket you'd get from a good clothing store of the same size.

You could go with whatever you normally would buy in a clothing store.

More specifically:
It sound like the XL would be good for your arms. But it also sounds like the Large would fit you better through the body and you could compensate if the arms are a little short with gloves that have longer cuffs.
