AGV Corsa Winter Test LE 2012 Helmet

AGV presents new CORSA limited edition model, a helmet for real motorbike enthusiasts and especially for fans of the World Champion, Valentino Rossi. The new Corsa Limited Edition will bear the same new race graphics as seen on the Valentino Rossi’s PISTA GP helmet. The "supersport" look is made even more attractive by the “Sun” and “Moon” symbols used by Valentino along with ideograms for the Japanese word “Kando”, a word used by Masao Furusawa to describe Valentino Rossi when he joined Yamaha in 2004.

The AGV Corsa Helmet combines the performance of the Pista GP with road-riding features such as adjustable ventilation and improved comfort, without sacrificing the performance standards of the GP model.

The AGV Corsa Helmet has been awarded a Five Star SHARP certification. SHARP (Safety Helmet and Assessment Rating Programme) is the UK Department of Transportation's independent helmet evaluation system and a 5 Star Rating represents the highest echelon of protection, the Corsa is now listed among the safest helmets in the world.

Built in conjunction with Valentino Rossi and tested at the highest levels. The AGV Corsa Winter Test helmet is not a full carbon fiber shell but the shell shape, aerodynamics, ventilation and eye-port improvements will be shared cross platform with the Pista GP Helmet.

Key improvements of the Corsa compared to the GP Tech:

  • Weight savings over the GP-Tech to be announced
  • 193% more ventilation surface area
  • 71% smaller visor movement area
  • 48% less HIC index standard (Head Injury Criterion)
  • 44% less lift 36% less g-force transmitted to the head (compared to the ECE regulation)

  • Shell: SSL (Super Super Light) in composite fiber, aramid & Carbon Fiber
  • Number of Shells: 4 shell sizes
  • Ventilation System: IVS (Integrated Ventilation System) with wide ducts hollowed into the shell
  • Interior: Breathable Lycra micro-porous lining and Dry-comfort fabric with sanitizing treatment
  • Interior: Fully removable and washable inner liners of CoolMax fabric
  • Face shield: RACE 2 flat, non-scratch shield with wide field of vision and suitable for tear-offs
  • Shield Mechanism: XQRS (Extra Quick Release System) in metal with roto-translation opening
  • Quick Release Shield: For tool-free removal and replacement of the visor in seconds
  • Retention System: Double D
  • Safety Certification: DOT and SHARP 5 Star

Forget the Pista, buy the Corsa steep price tag but you get what you pay for. Awesome helmet! March 20, 2015
Darn good Helm You gotta love this helmet, just glad us mere mortals can wear Motogp gear. ;P March 16, 2015
good helmet I like the helmet the look of the agv corsa cant be beat. The only thing that i dont like how loud it is i feel like a need ear plugs when i go over 60mph March 16, 2015
Outstanding helmet! First off, revzillas processing and shipping is by far the best I've ever experienced when it comes to an online store. Crazy fast. This helmet is great though, great airflow, fit is spot on, love that it comes with the ability to adjust the cheek pad fitment. Noise level is actually pretty quiet for a race helmet. The shield is spot on, once it locked in, there is no air creeping through any where. Overall worth every penny! February 20, 2015
Worth the price! Amazing! Buy this not the Pista!!! I bought this over the Pista because of the price, the difference in weight is negligible to me (I can’t find actual numbers but the difference is only a couple ounces) and the vents on this actually close instead of the Pista's rubber plugs. FIT: I have worn size large in Shoei, Arai and my previous AGV GP Tech. After a year of mixed street and a lot of track, the liner of the GP Tech crushed down and got a little loose feeling at high speed on the straights IE 120 MPH on the track. !!! I bought the Med Large (they split the med size into two sizes and shapes apparently) Its very tight but the one I tried on at local store had been on the shelf and tried on for a year and felt perfect so I expect this one to crush down a little but its very snug, more so than the Large GP Tech. Think safety at track speeds. This helmet fixes my 2 complaints with the GP Tech. 1. On the GP Tech the field of vision was limited when I was down in the bubble behind the windscreen. This helmet totally fixed that. Not only is the field of view wider it’s also taller. 2. The GP Tech was pretty loud. It vented well but even with ear plugs in it was pretty loud. . This thing is simply Quiet!!! This makes my GP Tech sound like a wind tunnel. I don't know how they did that with more air flow than the GP Tech. Yes that is also noticeable. 3. They fixed the horrible “quick release” (Quick snap off plastic) visor change system that AGV used to use. I broke 2 sets being very careful and gave up trying to change visors. This is really well done on the Pista and Corsa. Best and easiest system I’ve seen so far of any brand. The big clear plastic airfoil on the back of this helmet does what it says. It’s so much more stable. My head doesn't get buffeted around like every other helmet I've owned. This is a great helmet and will work for both track and street. The Corsa has a lot of other little bits of bling that just add to the whole thing. I was a little nervous about getting a helmet marketed for track use and riding it on the street IE noise, airflow, long ride comfort etc, but all those fears are swept aside by this amazing helmet. WELL WORTH THE PRICE. January 15, 2015
Incredible helmet This is my third helmet and by far my favorite. The fit is spot on, and breaks in nicely. Vision is better than any other helmet I've ever worn, almost like not having a helmet on. Very light and almost no wind resistance at all, very stable at high speeds. Exceptional quality from AGV in all aspects. Badass paint scheme too. If you are thinking about buying it, then just do it, you won't regret it. Hands down best helmet I've ever owned. LOVE IT. November 29, 2014
Amazing Helmet I used to wear a Suomy. This helmet has great fit. Vision is amazing and it feels real light. Fitment was spot on. Fits very snug the first few times, but loosened up to an amazingly snug but comfortable fit. Oh and the helmet cuts through wind like nothing I have felt in a helmet. September 29, 2014
Adjustability to a PERFECTION I wear a medium in almost all my helmets. I could not fit a medium small in this helmet. (Helmets I own: shoei rf1200, shoei rf1100, and shoei x12.) I rode for the first time and it hurt after 10 minutes! But this helmet has the ability to adjust the interior. It makes a WORLD difference. I did buy the extrasmall cheek pads though to ensure that I wasn't "kissing" the inside of my helmet. Venting in this helmet is AMAZING. At a stop, it gets hot. You move, and you feel the air. A very expensive helmet, but it's worth every dime. August 19, 2014

Brenton C: Considering I wish to do track days as well as my relatively short daily commutes this AGV helmet makes sense. Light weight, excellent ventilation, and correct positioning when in the tuck. It looks rad too. Mar 25, 2015

Valerio F: This helmet probably the best helmet I will ever own. It feels like you're riding with surround sound and hd vision. The view out of the tinted gold shield is a bit darker that I would like, but perfect during the day. Superior quality in every category. I love the adjustability. One should know that it is worn in a slightly different position, so getting used to it may be funny for a few days. Dec 10, 2014

Jean M asked: I am thinking of getting this helmet to get ready for summer, my only problem is the fitment of it since I saw that it has two mediums. The measurement of my head is 57 and the shape of my face is a little bit round. I just want to make sure that I get the right size. Also, I am a medium on the icon variant and a large on the shoei rf-1200 because the cushion on the medium is actually pushing in by my temple and its making my head hurt after awhile. I am a daily rider and an occasional track day dude. Which medium should i get? Feb 14, 2015

Nuno B: Hi Jean

First of all good choice with this amazing helmet, I love everything about it and it one of the best helmets I own. I'm also a 57.7 size head and head shape a little round aswell but more on the oval shape, I got the MS size and I feel super comfortable with it only problem is I have very short hair so when I let my hair grow abit to long the helmet squeezes on my temples and upper head witch causes my head to hurt after a long journey with the helmet. My advice to you is get a ML size. Also remember, you buying the helmet from one of the best places in the world, REVZILLA, so if you get a size you not completely happy or comfortable with they will exchange it for you and sort you out no problem. Well my bud I hope this sheds a little bit more light on your purchase and I wish you all the best. safe riding. Nuno Barros, SOUTH AFRICA

James E: I'm a 59, slightly oval and the M/L is tight front to back and ok on the temples. I expect the helmet to break in some and be about right. I removed the entire innards and my head rattles around in the shell. So the tightness is exclusively due to cushioning. If the temple is tight and you're not thinking track only (like me) then you'd probably want a straight L which I think that they are out of. I haven't yet been able to adjust the existing padding to make it less tight but then a race helmet should be snug to tight. Hope this helps. Feb 14, 2015

Jean M: yeah it will not be just for the track and I commute daily with my bike. Also, I am trying to go more often on the track this year because last year, I didn't have any chance cause of school and work. Feb 15, 2015
Mark Z: I wore a medium in my shoei x12 and corsair v ...I originally purchased the ML and had some momentment..not much but I could get my fingertip up by my temple and padding..I exchanged for the MS and couldn't be happier..the Corsa fits very different ..you can adjust the crown of the padding to make it more narrow or wider..I found that making it wider helped me out..this helmet is a race fit so it will be tight and snug..my first two or three rides were a little uncomfortable but now it's perfect Feb 15, 2015

Jean M: Yes, I did considered that before I posted this question and I will be more frequent on the track this year than last year. I went to cycle gear the other day to see if they got the corsa so I could try them on but unfortunately they don't. So I talked to guy there and luckily he owns one corsa and explained to me all the perks that come with it and that this helmet is a steal cause of its price with that level of protection. Tnanks for the feedback. Feb 15, 2015

Ryan P: This helmet is designed more for the track than the street, so you may want to take that into consideration. I have a large Suomy that I had used for 6 years and it fit great, I purchased the medium large AGV and it was a little too small so I had to send it back. I tried to get a large but they were sold out I would try going a bit bigger and order the fit kit if you need it smaller Feb 15, 2015

Adan G: My head measures 56.5 cm, I got the smaller of the mediums. It is slightly tight right around the ears, feels okay at first, but begins to hurt after 30-45 minutes. It doesn't fit bad around the top, but since I have a bit of a round face too, I think the larger medium would have fit spot on. Feb 14, 2015

Iresh M: My measurement is 57 cm as well and I got myself an MS based on the sizing chart. I'm very happy with the fit. And even happier with the awesome visibility this lid has to offer! Feb 15, 2015

Victor S asked: I've heard that the dark smoke visor is disappointingly light on this helmet. When I buy a dark smoke visor, I want it DARK. Is this true? Is the dark smoke race visor more tinted than the standard dark visor? Nov 28, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Matthew R: I have the Dark Smoke race visor and it is plenty dark enough. I suffer with photophobia and have to have dark glasses on most of the time. You will be in your own little cocoon with the visor on and people won't be able to see your face. You will so have a hard time if you get caught out at night without the clear as an alternate. Hope this helps. Nov 29, 2014

Victor S: Thanks Matthew, I appreciate it. Nov 29, 2014
Randy T: I spoke with Revzilla about the same issue as I read the same statement. They told me that was only in the early run of the face shields. I would say that the dark smoke is comparable to the agv GP tech. You will be happy with the darkness of the shield, it's definitely as dark as the others and that helmet is amazing! Nov 29, 2014

Victor S: Much obliged, Randy. Nov 29, 2014
David G: I bought the Dark Smoke Face Shield for my AGV helmet and it was as dark as my Arai Dark Smoke. It is not light. I commute 82 miles daily in San Diego and the Dark Smoke shield is perfect for everyday use. Nov 29, 2014

A shopper asked: Does this helmet have the same wide view port as the pista gp? Feb 26, 2014
Answer this · Send to friends Good question? Yes (0) No (0)
Matthew R: I've worn both the Pista GP and the Corsa Winter Test LE (I own the latter). Both helmets are essentially the same with respect to how the helmet fits, where the chin bar rides along the jaw, the amount of peripheral vision available, etc. The only difference between the two (short the price tag) is one is made of carbon fiber and the other is made of a carbon composite. If you want the same technology (and protection) less the ultra-exotic materials in the Pista, the Corsa is the way to go. I absolutely love mine! I'll put it this way:

Riding in moderate temperatures (40 - 50 degrees F), you will want all of the vents closed because they really do flow that much air and you will be so cold you won't want to ride. I've had one 70 degree day since I've owned the helmet, and it was an absolute joy to ride in. No sweat, no hot spots, simply the best helmet I've ever owned. Just make sure you buy the right size and expect a little bit of a snug fit (it is a racing derived helmet) and you'll be good to go. Expect a little bit of a break in too, but once you give it a chance, you won't be sorry about your purchase.

James A: Yes, the shape is identical. The only difference is that the Pista is all carbon fiber and has less padding on the collar. Also, the Corsa has mechanical vent closure.

I highly recommend the Corsa. It has everything you realistically need and only weighs a few ounces more than the Pista. You will never notice the difference.
