AFX FX-50 Hi-Viz Helmet
Nice helmet, terrible fit
There’s a lot I like about this helmet. It has all the features I was looking for at an insanely low price. Alas, it wasn’t meant to be.
-available in hi-viz
-integrated sun visor
-Lack of padding in forehead area
-sun visor doesn’t come down low enough
Even though it was cheap and has great features, the fit was terrible for me. I found it to be very round so that there was a lot of space at my temples and cheeks, but wayyyy too little at my foerhead. Add to this the fact that there is very little padding in this area and right around the 30 minute mark my head was in a great deal of pain. Like, had to pull over and get this terrible thing off my head right NOW kind of pain. I also found that the sun visor didn’t come down far enough. It was almost right in the middle of my vision. I could’ve used another inch, I think. And it’s not a quiet helmet, but this style generally isn’t. I found that I had to wear earplugs with it.
It’s too bad, if the fit wasn’t so far off I would’ve kept the helmet. Instead I went with the FX-140 modular. The 140 is way more comfortable, quieter, fits a narrower head better, has a ton more padding all around but especially in the forehead area, and is safer. If it wasn’t so heavy it would be the perfect helmet for me.
If the FX-50 fits, you’ll be happy. But narrower faces and pronounced foreheads beware…

Much nicer than expected for the $cratch
I bought the black version for myself - it was so nice for the money my wife wanted one in HI-Viz. We both ordered a size up from the chart and the fit is perfect. Plenty of room for prescription glasses, and the built in sun shield is great when you are turning into the sun and don't want to stop for sunglasses. Several friends who ride w/o helmets took notice and are now considering buying these for extended rides.

Great Helmet for the Money!
I have the Bright Yellow one and it sure stands out! The reflectors are an nice touch too. Great for scooter riding, also the sun-shade works great with my glasses. The visor does make some noise but not all that bad. I like the way you can configure the style for different riding styles too. As for fit it is slightly rounded. I wear a 2XL and the helmet is snug at my forehead but not uncomfortable. The padding is thin when compared to other styles but comfortable enough. The cam-latch chin strap is handy and once adjusted is easier to work than double D rings.

Great Helmet for an even better price
I bought this helmet after reading all the reviews and was kind of skeptical on the fit but I went with the size of my old helmet and it fit perfect. Wore it for the first time on a 900 mile trip and no complants. Wore it in rain and freezing temps with just a hood under it and kept warm and dry. I did get to use the sun shield on the way home and a great bonus to this great helmet. Highly recommend and got lots of compliments on how visable it was among the group of bikes we traveled with.

Very good helmet for the price
It is a little bit tight in the fore head area, but I think it will loosen as it is broken in. The ventiliation is excellant. Not for cold weather. Allows good side view. A very good bang for the buck, I like the strap tightner. The face shield is so clear that you forget it is down. The sun visor does not rattle like the one in my other helmet does.

Great helmet with complete flexibility for riding conditions!
The helmet provides you with great options to allow you to use one helmet for your riding without the need to take "extra" pieces along as required by other helmets. I no longer need the extra tinted shield and the extra sun peak and no longer have to deal with stopping to make the changes. I just utilize the flexibility of the helmet while I ride, selecting either the clear shield or the tinted shield and never remove the sun peak. Great 3-in-1 concept helmet!

On line instructions for measuring fit were spot on, fit it the best. High visibility yellow is exactly what I was looking for. Only complaint the slide down sunglasses come very close to my nose--complaint is really about the size of my honker not the sun glass shield! I really like the chin strap ratchet compared to D-ring. Really easy on and off with a wide range of adjustment. I did have to trim the strap back to keep the surplus length from snapping against the side of helmet, but that is the only drawback to the ratchet style. A snap to secure excess strap would be the only improvement I would make

Say bye-bye to D rings! The only thing left to be desired is more vents otherwise this is a very awesome helmet. Please note: The color is hi-vis but not a florescent yellow, more like a taxi cab yellow.
