Its adds the perfect look that I wanted for the helmet. Easy enough to replace. Nice and dark. Clear vision.

Dark Smoke Sun Shield
I got the dark smoke sun sheild. I like it so far. Great for early morning canyon rides when you are in and out of dark shade and bright sun, no messing with sunglasses. Mine has a bit of distortion but not enuff to make it unusable - for the price it's good

Just like the original
The replacement shields are just like the original. They fit well and arrived scratch free. I like the look of the mirror finish as well as the dark smoke.

Same functionality as an internal shield with easier replacement
This is an awesome little piece of gear. It offers the same functionality of an internal sunshield with the added benefit of easier removal and a greater selection of colors. I got the gold mirror color and it has the perfect level of tint to provide good visibility without being too light. It is more of an oil-slick/rainbow color which was a nice surprise and it looks very sharp on my white DS-39. (see attached picture for example)
The only "con" I can think of is the inability to use the half shield on its own without the standard full shield. The way the outer shield is designed to fit over the full shield makes it too big to stay in place alone. This isn't what the shield is designed for but it was a cool idea I had when I got it and in no way detracts from the intended functionality.

Mirrored shield worth the money
Picked up a mirrored shield for my commute has me riding into the sun each way.
Shield comes with mounting hardware already attached making change out quick. Excellent feature!
Dark enough to make riding without sunglasses comfortable. No waves in field of vision.

Love this shield looks awsome still tend to fog up at slow speeds so i crack it open a little.I use this shield for atving and it works great in low light conditions when in the woods. The shield so far has great scratch resistence i've got mud on it wipe it off no scratches so far.The only thing i would recommend is that it would be nice if they made a mirror finish in a light sensitive lense like my goggles from smith optics

Brandon F:I am unsure, as I don't own the heated Double Lens Shield myself. It depends on if that faceshield protrudes out any further than the stock faceshield the helmet comes with. It's a tight fit between the original faceshield and the Outer Sun Shield, which, to answer your question, does go on top/over the primary faceshield. They don't rub or anything, but IF the heated shield sticks out further than the stock shield, they MAY interfere with the movement of each other. I have the Fly Trekker (Which is the same as the AFX FX-39. They are both made by the same manufacturer, an outfit called Western Power Sports. I've owned both helmets). Installation is easy, just remove screws for faceshield and slide the outer shield, under the plastic sunvisor, onto the same pivot point as the primary shield and reinstall screws. Takes 5 min. I only recently received it and haven't found the time to ride since installing it, so I can't speak to it's road worthiness/performance, although I don't anticipate an issues. My only "complaint", which really can't be avoided by design (therefore is not a design flaw or oversight on WPS's part), is that because it's on the outside, you can't lower the outer sun shield independently, unlike helmets with sun shields on the inside of the faceshield. A minor issue, at best. All-in-all, I'm very pleased with WPS/AFX/Fly's products and I'm sure this nice add-on will perform as well as I've come to expect from them. So far, good fit, good function. Well worth the $20 or so I spent on it. --BTF, Denham Springs, LADec 12, 2013
