AFX FX-39 Dual Sport Strike Helmet
Catches the wind
This helmet is great and nice and cool on a hot day. That being said it catches the wind a lot more than I expected. at speed of 40+ you can feel it pull strong when turning your head. Highway ridding is fine as long as you are prepared for the wind when looking around. This helmet fits great and is super comfortable and you cant beat the price.

Took it to Vietnam two years ago, still using it in 2016
Bought it as a "throw-away" to take on a riding trip to Southeast Asia. Worked amazing! Glad I brought it because they don't sell helmets in Vietnam for my gigantic head! Awesome people and place though.
The helmet is a basic dirt helmet with addition of a shield. That shield is also basic: not scratch resistant or anti-fog at all. But it works and is cheap.
The vents on the chin are pointless since this thing flows a ton of air from underneath.
Removing the bill leaves you with a really aggressive looking street helmet, but with mega venting and fogging. Oh yeah, it's freaking loud too. But duh, it's a dirt helmet at its core.
Loved the ratcheting strap and ability to wear goggles under the lense. I used the goggles mainly and dropped the lense down when it rained.
The liner is nice as well.
Works great with the shield as a dirt helmet. Works great as a toss-it-around extra helmet. Too loud/open for daily use.

This helmet looks great, feels great, and visibility is awesome. It's kind of noisy upwards of 65 mph but completely tolerable for long stretches of highway. Heat and humidity in Miami haven't been an issue. My first street helmet so i have nothing to compare it to.

Excellent helmet for the price you pay can't beat it, I have had schuberts, shoei etcc of course excellent helmets but if you are in a budget this is a great option, I bought the extra face mirror shield that attached to the transparent shield and it works great, took this helmet to Tierra del Fuego deom San Diego and NO COMPLAINTS

cheap and unavailiable electric shield
Nice helmet with 2 big drawbacks.
1. eye opening was too small for any of the goggles I tried with it, so not really much of a dual sport.
2. The electric shield didn't last. I went out after about a month last season. Before this season, I tried to order another one; none to be had. Just now after the lack of an electric visor cost me a weekend of riding (and several sticks to the face after the visor failed, since I have the visor open most of the time), I tried again; still none available.
Now I have to buy a new helmet because I can't get a replacement electric visor for this one.
I'll never buy another AFX.

Great DS Helmet
Using the fit chart, my helmet was perfect. Oh, sure, it’s tight and about rips my ears off on removal. It goes on easy and once on, causes no pain. The visor is simple and well designed. The cheek pads are made for an emaciated refugee, not the pulchritudinous faces of us overfed Westerners. Following the advice of a previous reviewer, I clamped the removable cheek pieces between a pair of large books overnight and they were more manageable next day. Fogging is easy to achieve until out of the slipstream of a windshield. Low speed dirt riding suggests standing on the pegs, so the fogging is not an issue there. I applied a thick coat of Op Drops (which I use on the inside of safety glasses in competitive shooting sports) to the inside of the visor. Fogging (even in the rain) is now not a problem. The quick release strap works flawlessly. Noise at speed is about what I would expect from any helmet. These lids are well made and well designed. I’m very happy I bought it. I think I’ll order one for my best friend (my wife)………She claims she wants to ride 2-up.

You get what you pay for...
$150 is not a lot to spend to protect your head and look good. If you're just getting into riding or if you're buying your first dual sport helmet, this may be a good option. The shield works well although it fogs up immediately in colder weather. Vision is good as well as breathability. Style is cool although it's quite a big helmet - I couldn't fit it in one of my side cases that I can usually get my other full face helmets in.
It has no room for a Bluetooth device - if you use a sena, you'll have to cut out foam for the ear pieces.
It's not particularly comfortable and there's no way to adjust the cheek pads.
It's a pretty noisy lid.
The chin strap is a latch system which makes it quick on and off.
It looks good. It's cheap. So far there's not too much buffeting at high speed.
Overall...I wish I had spent a few dollars more, gone with an arai and been totally covered on all bases. But again it comes down to what you want to spend.
