Really love the disk lock and alarm, it only goes off if you mess with it. No false alarms, very solid and great finish. Chain is heavy but considering it's size and strength it's much lighter than it's competitors. My only complaint is with the chain and lock together it's a very tight fit to go over my disk break. I have a KTM SMT and the wheel rim nearly blocks the disk lock from going on when chain is attached. It's fine without the lock but not that easy with it.
Yes, I recommend this product.

I was in need of a good disk lock to not only secure the bike at home but more importantly when on the road. I wanted an lock that had a alarm when not at home and no alarm when at home. I'm in a HOA area so one of my concerns was false alarms. Because I also live in a low crime area I didn't feel the need to have an alarm activated while the bike is in the garage. I had originally looked at the Xena alarms but they appear to be very sensitive and give off false alarms more than they should (no direct knowledge, just reading online posts). It is important to me to avoid false alarms so when I do move away from the tightly packed condo and into a house that the alarm be as stable as possible. I decided on the ABUS 8000 but held of placing an order for months. Glad I did. I noticed the Youtube review from Revzilla and was very excited that they started carrying the exact lock I was looking for. I made the purchase a week later for the 8000 and chain. The first order was sent back. The screw that attached the battery compartment door would not come completely out. The door was not flush against the lock but the screw appeared to be perfectly aligned with the hole. My guess is it had a stripped thread. Because this was the first thing I did when opening the box the defect was caught really quickly. Had I waited six months or so to try and unscrew the battery compartment I may have been SOL so make sure to check this as soon as you open the package. Chris was great and issued a RMA for return and shipped a new one immediately . I had to return the entire package including chain and lock but Revzilla paid for the shipping back (thank goodness). The second lock and chain arrived and everything works great. I haven't used the alarm function that much but have tested it out in the boonies and am happy with the results. All other times the batteries are removed and the lock is used without the alarm armed. The lock itself is excellent. I've had no problems with opening the lock now that I am used to it. On my F800GS the lock will only go into the first set of holes so you will have some of the slot in the lock free regardless of using the chain or not. So on this bike don't expect to push the lock all the way back with no space free in the slotted area of the lock. This means the disk lock can be moved up and down if the chain isn't used. Security wise and functionality it still performs fine. Other disk locks may do this as well but since this is my first I have no way to compare. The chain is somewhat short and you should consider it only if there is something you could tether it to in front of the bike such as a tree or metal post. Do NOT expect the chain to wrap around the rear tire and connect to the front lock. It's not long enough. If you have a ground anchor or park the bike where the front tire can be secured to an object that's maybe a foot or two away then it should work perfectly. The chain is heavy but not so heavy you couldn't take with you around town in rear or side bags. A backpack perhaps but probably not for long trips. I think it's about 4 foot long end to end. The chain is also useless without the lock so don't expect to use this chain with another disk lock. It probably won't work. Overall I think this is a great product and unless I see reports of the lock being picked, this is probably the most secure disk lock combo I have seen in the US. Revzilla is cheaper to-the-door than any other reseller so if you are going to purchase one, buy it here. If it weren't for the hassle with the first lock with poor quality control I would rate five stars but because of that, four stars. The finish is getting a GOOD because of the packaging the chain may come in contact with the disk lock and could cause some cosmetic rubs during shipping. My first lock did not have this problem, my second lock did.
