Does exactly what it should do - protect my bike3 from thieves
Easy to use and love the cord to remind you to take the lock off the disc brakes.

Suprise! It's not a stapler
Ok dumb joke it's not a stapler, but really check out the awesome info video they made about this lock! I can only add is that to change the 2AA batteries is super easy! Just lift out the "silver panel bump plate" that presses on your disk that activates the alarm, replace batteries, then snap panel back, ta-dah done!!

Great theft deterrence!
It's a great product and experience so far. Leaves me with a good state of mind walking away in those "sketchy" areas or when I go to sleep, with easy one handed installation. I haven't had any false alarms and the lanyard is a great reminder for when I'm in a rush and forget to take the device off my bike. I could say it should be louder but I can hear it in any room in my house and plus who is going to want to steal a bike they can't get quiet :) plus because it's on its own battery I don't have to worry about killing my bikes battery. Over all it was money well spent to me!

Great Disc Lock
Easy one hand operation to install, small enough to carry in my saddle bag, but very heavy and sturdy construction. The key coded is very different and the audible alarm is a deterrent.

Easy to use, good size, a bit quiet
Seems well designed; easy to use and easy to store. I like the included reminder cord and storage case.

It doesn't go off too easily, but any moderate bike movement will trigger it. Just a bit more sensitivity would be nice (or adjustable sensitivity!)

Minus 1 star as it isn't particularly loud. It might annoy anyone messing with the bike and draw attention from those nearby, but you aren't going to hear it from any distance or indoors. The Xena alarms appear better for absolute security (beefier, harder to cut, louder) though this is nicely transportable and a reasonable deterrent.

Good lock, alarm not good
It is good lock, it is solid, really hard to break.
But alarm - I don't like it. It is no make sense to use this alarm, because you should punch to it to let it start making any sound.
I had another brand alarm before - it was working great, if you touch motorcycle and it shakes just a little bit - it starts work with really loud sound. But Abus - no, sound is really low.

Gets the job done.
I really love this disc lock especially in comparison to some of the cheaper stuff I could find locally. Most cheap disc locs go off when a squirrel farts, not this one! Abus set the sensor just right you can set it off by slapping it against your hand, so someone taking a hammer or pry bar to it will definitely set it off.

If I were to complain about anything the little metal button that arms the lock when on the disc sits a little too far away. So just putting the lock on the disc won't necessarily arm the lock. But, that has more to do with my bike than the lock itself.

Not very sensitive alarm
Unlike some of the other alarms that freak out when something touches your wheel, this one takes a bit more to activate it. A moderate tap with a shoe will do it.

Good for the city since sometimes trucks and other bikes make car alarms go off. I'm sure some of the other bike alarms would go off too. This one is a good deterrent, and if they still try, it'll go off.

Decent alarm, for a decent price
I bought this to add a small level of security to my bike. I would say it works well if i have my window open while I sleep I can hear the alarm, and since I can park my bike so close to the door at work the guys up front can hear it so all-in-all it works just fine.

It is not the loudest, but it goes on in seconds, comes with everything already setup ready to be put on the bike

Good lock
Alarm sound could be a bit more loud, but overall it's a good lock and you'll definitely hear it.

Fits on a brake disc of a Vespa GTS Super ('14-present)!

Build and fit with my bike (CB500F) is best. Great reviews. I liked the design and functionality better than the Xena locks. I wanted an alarm that was less sensitive. I also preferred the the AA batteries as well.

After looking around I decided on this one because you have to physically knock it for it to go off. Other seemed prone to sensitivity problem and go off at inconvenient moments.

When the alarm goes off, does it keep going off until you unlock it or does it stop after a certain amount of time?
A shopper on Jun 20, 2014
BEST ANSWER: Yes it stops after I about 15 seconds or so until moved again.
Does anyone know if this works on a Kawasaki Ninja 300?

I'm still puzzled about the difference between the RS2 vs RS3 and "LED and/or different acoustic signals inform about battery, activation and alarm status" is just no doing it. Could I please get a explanation in plain language. What's the LED for?
Amy M on Mar 19, 2015
BEST ANSWER: ABUS Detecto 7000 series are different with their Snap'n Go closing system. This alarmed disc lock can be placed on the brake disc in alarmed or non-alarmed mode. With only a shock and vibration sensor, it is much less sensitive than the 7000 RS1 model (which has 3D position system built-in)
The 110dB alarm for 15 seconds. After 15 seconds the alarm goes back in active mode.
The only difference between ABUS Detecto RS3 and the RS2 model is 'NO LED'.

All Detecto 7000 series are very easy to us and extremely tough to get off the disc. When opened, the bottom part hinges away allowing it to be clamped into the brake-disc and pressed shut. The alarm is activated by pushing the lock into the disc. Another big advantage is that ABUS Detecto locks can be locked onto the disc without activating the alarm.

Detecto RS2 comes with batteries installed ( 2 AAA batteries), 2 keys and storage pouch. Different sound signals for battery status and activation/operation.
Does this lock fit my 2008 Harley Electraglide Classic with stock Rotors and Calipers? If not what model do I need please?
A shopper on May 18, 2014
BEST ANSWER: The Abus is very simple to operate and extremely built tough---So, I would definitely recommend this securylity lock---Yes, it will work on your Harley.
