    What I needed and expected
Good product. Using this for knee and shin protection riding my R1 wearing shorts on hot days. No brainer for most, but I needed to witness a friend rip the skin off his kneecap in a minor slide before comitting $ to lower body armor for off-track riding.

I applied mfr sizing recommendations and ordered large. The fit was right on. The guards don't slip or move around, don't restrict circulation, and are comfortable to walk in.

I was concerned about the 5450's heat resistance vs the hot air venting out my lower farings, given their synthetic fabric and neoprene construction... wouldn't want to have them melt a/o weld themselves to my skin. Turns out no chance of this happening b/c the materials held up, didn't soften or deform in the heated air stream.

Best protection for aggressive sport riding is full armored leathers plus racing boots. I'll rank this solution halfway between that and riding in your boxers. As it were, I'll be missing a lower cheek or two in a bad slide, but my knees and shins will retain their natural beauty. Now that I realize I had my priorities bass ackward, working now on the armored boxers (patent pending).

Fits like a glove (or a knee should)
Purchased a medium based on the recommendation of a Revzilla staffer. I am 5'10" tall and weigh 185 pounds. Was told to buy the size of my underwear. The fit was spot on. Wore these knee guards over 9 days in hot, hazy, and humid weather in Maryland, Virginia, West Virginia, North Carolina, Tennessee, Kentucky and Ohio. There are NO irritating straps to worry about with these knee guards. You slide your leg through spandex-like material. There is no material behind your knee so sweat doesn't collect there. Each day back at the hotel, I would place the knee guards over the air conditioning vents and they'd be dry by the next morning. The knee guards themselves offer complete shin protection right to the top of my Alpinestars Web boots. I wish I bought these 15 years ago (if they were available then). I wear them underneath a pair of Levi's.

    New design great product
It is what it is...very comfortable, great design, excellent fit and function. It is not the beefyist pair of knee guards but that's not the design.

    Great But
These are still pretty warm under Klim Mohave pants and even the lightest cotton pants I own. Maybe I'll wear them with shorts , or under pants and wrestle them off when I 'get there'.This is probably more bearable on a cruiser . On a BMW R1200ST there is no ventilation for 6'' in either direction from your knee. Good protection and they stay put . We just don't get that many 70 degree days here [anywhere]

    "Lite" knee guards
These are quick and easy to slip on, stay put on your knee, and are very slim. Practically invisible under jeans and comfortable to wear all day.

The downside is like any slim/light protective gear, there's a trade off to protection. The padding is very thin(1/2" or so) with a pretty flexible plastic plate in between- hard impacts go right through them. I wouldn't suggest doing the "drop onto concrete" test wearing these. These are more to guard against abrasions and cuts rather than impacts.

I typically prefer something a little more substantial, but if you're looking for a minimalist, light knee pad, these are a great choice.

    These work well under jeans
I don't have lined jeans or proper riding pants so I thought I would buy these to go under jeans or shorts for some protection. I am a huge fella at 6'3" 305 lbs. and I bought the XL's wishing they sold XXL. Man they did fit tight and the first couple of rides I had to gingerly slide them up the legs as I heard seems stretching. But stretch they did and now they fit nicely. I can keep them on all day with a small amount of sweat underneath. Nothing that will make you stink.

I don't know how well they will protect. I figure they will prevent serious road rash from the knee to lower calf. I felt if I hit the armor plates from the side they would just move out of the way and I would still break my knee. I would say it mentally made me feel a little safer, especially since I wear no lower body armor without these.

All in all a decent buy but don't expect anything amazing.

    Comfortable and secure
I purchased the 5450's to wear with my Klim Dakar pants, and I'm very happy with the results. The armor is placed in an elastic sleeve and slides up over your sock. The shin armor extends to the boot upper on an adventure boot. The knee cup stays in place over the knee cap with no need to adjust it. Check the sizing chart and get out the tape before you order. The fit is snug but comfortable. I feel confident that the armor will be in place should I need it. Before the addition of the 5450's the Dakar pants felt cool and breezy, but under-protective. Now they feel perfect.

Comfortable, easy on and off, great protection
I wear these with Scorpion Covert Pro Jeans, TCX-X Street shoes and Alpinestar Bionic Freeride shorts. I feel well protected in a worse case scenario YET very comfortable for every day riding. Great in hot SoCal summer riding. It's a win-win.

Wanted durable knee protection that would stay put, something I could wear under loose trousers and leave on at the office. Not disappointed. The TLD elbow protection made me confident that these would do the trick, and I wasn't disappointed. Better than EVS.

How do i know what sizing i need to be large or medium?.. since on chart it says mid patella.

I'm torn between these and the Forcefield Zeus knee guards. These seem to have a little more coverage over the shin and they're almost 1/2 the price. I'll be wearing these under Kevlar jeans, I ride a CBR600rr.

Just wondering if these are CE rated or not?
    CraigCBR on Aug 19, 2014
BEST ANSWER: I was between the two as well and went with these. Happy I did. A lot of protection and very comfortable. Doesn't quite go to the top of the boot, but this way they don't rub and interact with one another.
How thick is the knee padding? I would like a measurement because I want to wear these under leather overpants and I want to make sure I have enough room.
    Jacob A on Feb 11, 2015
BEST ANSWER: 3/4 at most but more so 1/2..

I ride supermoto and wear these under my loose fit dickies theres lost of room it look as if I'm not wearing any knee pads
