While I had every intention not to write about these damn teaser videos any more until the bike's release on Tuesday, this video is just too interesting not to pass along.
This latest video shows a number of very tightly cropped shots of the bike with various carbon fiber wings. The first (of many) times I watched this video, the people I was with asked if I was okay, given the completely bewildered look on my face. I don't really know what to do with this video except continue to get more and more excited for Tuesday.
The first in the video is probably the most confusing, at least to me, but if I had to guess I would say it's some sort of diffuser on the tail end of the bike. The video does a great job at confusing which area of the bike we're looking at, but that shape just doesn't make sense anywhere else on the bike.
The second appears to be a wing that would live off the sides of the front of the motorcycle. A quick google search for bikes using a similar design returned a great article from Robotpig about the Ducati Desmosedici GP10's similar looking wings. Those were initially claimed to help prevent wheelies, but were more likely included to help cool the engine, given that their diminutive size wouldn't actually create any downforce and the fact that adding downforce spoils handling in the turns.
The final wing appears to be one of the H2's mirrors, or more accurately, a wing where the mirror would go. Using it to see anything behind you would be impossible — not that it would matter, with the sort of speeds Kawasaki is implying.
Questions, comments, thoughts, conspiracies, ideas? We'd love to hear 'em. Stay tuned bright and early Tuesday morning for when Kawasaki finally unveils the H2 and we get the full rundown.
